Vietnam Vice‑Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu orders nationwide review of high‑school exams after abnormal scores

Vice‑Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu directed the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Public Security and the Tuyên Quang provincial government to urgently verify the irregularly high mathematics scores recorded at the Tuyên Quang specialised high school exam centre. The investigation must identify any violations, hold responsible parties to account and propose corrective measures to protect students’ rights and preserve the credibility of the 2026 high‑school graduation examination. The provincial authorities are also tasked with a comprehensive audit of the entire exam process and must report findings by 9 July.

In a related meeting, Lê Tiến Châu highlighted “achievement disease” in the education system as a top priority for the new school year. He urged the ministry to cut at least 30 % of school network nodes, reassess teacher and staff workload standards, and introduce policies to lower exam pressure for grade‑10 admissions. The ministry will also review curricula, evaluation methods and resource allocation to support equitable education, especially in high‑density urban areas.

Both directives aim to restore public confidence, ensure fair assessment for university admissions and align Vietnam’s education system with digital transformation goals.
