Vietnam VN-Index swings on Vingroup rally and foreign selling
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange closed the week lower as selling pressure intensified. The VN‑Index slipped 5.94 points to 1,824.53, with 205 stocks falling and 84 rising. Foreign investors continued net selling, offloading more than VND 1.6 trillion, while BIDV was the market’s biggest dragger, dropping 2.2 %. Vinhomes managed a modest 0.62 % gain, but overall momentum remained negative.
A few days later the VN‑Index rebounded, climbing 24.27 points to 1,830.47. The surge was driven primarily by Vingroup‑related stocks – VIC, VHM and VRE – which together contributed over 33 points to the index. The rally coincided with Vingroup’s announcement of large cash dividend plans for Vinhomes and Vincom Retail, totaling tens of billions of dong, underscoring the conglomerate’s influence on market direction.
