Vietnam war veterans honored in Quảng Trị and Hà Tĩnh
In July 2026, Vietnam marked the legacy of its war veterans with two concurrent initiatives. In Quảng Trị province, officials and former servicemen visited the Trường Sơn National Cemetery, which holds more than 10,200 martyrs, to pay respects, lay flowers and recall the sacrifices of those who fought in the war. Veteran Nguyễn Tiến Sỹ, among others, emphasized the enduring memory of the battlefield and the ongoing gratitude of the nation.
Meanwhile, in Hà Tĩnh province, the “Hành trình tri ân” program organized by the Ministry of Public Security and local youth groups distributed monetary gifts and began construction of two “Nhà nhân ái” homes for families facing hardship. The ceremony, attended by senior officials, also highlighted the principle of “Uống nước nhớ nguồn” – remembering the source of the nation’s freedom – by supporting the families of martyrs, war wounded and other beneficiaries of the state’s gratitude policy.
