Vietnam warns of airline ticket scams as travelers shift to cheaper mid‑week flights

Vietnamese police have issued a warning about sophisticated online scams targeting people buying airline tickets on platforms such as Zalo, Facebook and TikTok. Fraudsters create fake travel agency pages, advertise ultra‑cheap tickets and then pressure victims to make multiple payments, often using bogus error messages or malicious links to steal banking credentials. The police cite a case from Quảng Ninh where a man lost a large sum after being duped by a page called "Air Go Việt Nam" and urge travellers to use only official airline websites or authorized agents.

At the same time, many Vietnamese families are adjusting their travel plans to avoid high weekend fares during the summer peak. By flying on weekdays, they can save several hundred thousand to over a million đồng per person, according to surveys of routes such as Hanoi‑Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh‑Phú Quốc. Airlines are adding about 5.5 million seats on domestic routes through mid‑August to meet demand, and travel experts recommend booking early and being flexible with flight times to obtain lower prices.
