Vietnam is bracing for significant weather shifts across several regions. The National Steering Committee for Civil Defense has urged local authorities in the Northern Delta, Lang Son, and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue to prepare for heavy rain, potential flash floods, landslides, and thunderstorms.

Forecasts indicate a peak period of heavy rainfall in the Northern Delta and Lang Son from the night of August 30 through August 31, with some areas expected to receive over 130mm. From August 31 to September 1, the region from Thanh Hoa to Hue may experience even more intense rainfall, potentially exceeding 180mm, posing risks of urban flooding and landslides.

While the North prepares for rain, Central Vietnam is currently experiencing heatwaves, with temperatures in some areas reaching above 38 degrees Celsius. However, this heat is expected to subside by August 31 as rain moves into the central coastal regions. In the South and Central Highlands, intermittent sunshine and evening thunderstorms are expected throughout the National Day holiday period. Additionally, meteorologists are monitoring a low-pressure area in the North East of the South China Sea that could potentially reform into a storm by September 1.
