Vietnam's tourism boom drives surge in luxury hotel projects and golf offerings
Vietnam recorded a record 7.74 million overnight visitors in the first five months of 2026, a 20.9 % rise year‑on‑year, with international arrivals climbing 23.6 % to 4.18 million. New initiatives such as a digital arrival card in Da Nang aim to streamline travel, while multi‑sensory tourism promotions highlight the country's heritage, cuisine and natural landscapes.
The surge in high‑end visitors is prompting major hotel groups to expand. IHG Hotels & Resorts, operating 15 luxury and lifestyle properties, plans to add four new upscale hotels in the next five years, including InterContinental resorts in Ha Long Bay, Sa Pa and Hồ Tràm. Six Senses Ninh Vân Bay and other six‑star resorts are also attracting investment.
Golf tourism is benefitting as well, with Da Nang’s clubs unveiling major tournaments, night‑golf experiences and promotional offers to capitalize on the growing demand. Together with new air routes and festivals such as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, Vietnam is positioning itself as a premier destination for affluent travellers seeking both recreation and cultural immersion.
