Vietnam records nearly 14 million foreign visitors Jan‑July 2026

Vietnam welcomed almost 14 million international tourists in the January‑July period, achieving about 56 % of its 2026 target of 25 million arrivals. The surge was driven by relaxed visa rules, expanded flight networks and intensified promotion. China remained the largest source with roughly 3.1 million visitors (22 % of total), followed by South Korea (2.4 million) and a sharp rebound from Russia, which delivered 864 000 guests – a 174 % increase year‑on‑year.

European markets also posted strong gains, with Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland each posting double‑digit growth, helped by Vietnam’s visa‑exemption policy. Long‑haul visitors from the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand rose between 18 % and 25 %.

In the city of Da Nang, the tourism boom translated into a marked economic upswing. In July the city recorded over 882 000 air passengers and 852 000 international visitors, contributing to a 14.4 % rise in hospitality revenue and a 6.1 % increase in overall retail sales. The influx supported broader gains in commerce, industry and municipal finances, reinforcing tourism’s role as a key growth engine for Vietnam’s economy.
