Vietnam national teams prepare for ASIAD 20 in Japan

Vietnamese national sports teams are finalizing preparations for the ASIAD 20 games in Japan.

The Vietnam Shooting Federation has announced significant cash rewards to motivate athletes, including 200 million VND for gold, 100 million VND for silver, and 50 million VND for bronze medals. The 15-member squad aims to secure 1-2 gold medals across 18 events, with high expectations for experienced shooters like Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh. However, the team faces a setback as top archer Le Quoc Phong has been withdrawn from the roster due to a persistent neck injury.

In athletics, the Vietnam Athletics Federation has also set incentive structures, offering 300 million VND for individual gold medals and 500 million VND for relay gold medals. The women's 4x400m relay team is a primary focus for the 25-member squad.

In football, the Vietnam women's national team continues its training camp in China ahead of the ASIAD 20 tournament. During a recent friendly match, they secured a 1-0 victory against the Chinese club Jiangsu, with Pham Hai Yen scoring the decisive goal.
