Vietnamese banks adopt AI and Big Data to transform operations

Vietnamese banks are undergoing a significant digital transformation, with approximately 90% of institutions now integrating AI, Big Data, cloud computing, and blockchain into their core operations. This shift is moving technology from simple support tools to the core of banking management, impacting customer service, operational automation, and risk management.

According to the State Bank of Vietnam, 63.42% of banking operations are now fully digital, with a target of 70% by 2030. Many credit institutions have already achieved digital transaction rates exceeding 95%, and some even surpassing 98%. AI is being utilized for personalized services, fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and credit scoring.

At SHB, the implementation of Agentic AI, combined with Human-in-the-loop and Explainable AI, has been used to streamline credit appraisal and approval processes, increasing transparency and speed while maintaining human oversight for final decisions.
