Vietnamese banks initiate major capital raising via bonds and stocks
Several Vietnamese banks are undertaking significant capital raising activities through bond and stock issuances to bolster operational funds.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) recently completed two private bond offerings totaling 1,750 billion VND on September 22 and 23. These 6-year bonds carry a floating interest rate of 9% per annum. Since the beginning of the year, MB has issued 28 bond lots with a total value of 21,600 billion VND. Additionally, the bank successfully distributed nearly 805.5 million shares in a public offering, raising approximately 8,055 billion VND.
PVcomBank (PCB) has approved a private placement of 300 million shares at 13,628 VND per share, which is over 62% higher than its current market price. If successful, the bank could raise over 4,000 billion VND, increasing its charter capital from 9,000 billion VND to 12,000 billion VND. This move is expected to reduce the ownership stakes of PetroVietnam and Morgan Stanley International Holdings Inc.
PGBank (PGB) plans to issue over 267 million shares at a par value of 10,000 VND per share to raise approximately 2,673 billion VND. The proceeds are intended to supplement business capital and support growth objectives for 2026 and beyond. If completed, the bank's charter capital will rise to 10,000 billion VND.
