Vietnamese banks reinstate automatic split for large transfers
Vietnam's BIDV became the first bank to reopen its automatic split‑order feature for rapid inter‑bank transfers of 500 million VND or more on 1 June. The system divides each large transfer into multiple sub‑transactions, each capped at 499,999,999 VND, and displays every split on the SmartBanking app for user confirmation. This restores a 24/7 fast‑transfer service while meeting State Bank regulations and reducing transaction bottlenecks.
OCB (Orient Commercial Bank) has also launched a similar split‑order function in its OCB OMNI app (version 2.14.0). The feature supports individual transfers up to 5 billion VND, splitting them into 490 million VND sub‑orders and requiring separate confirmations for each part. Both banks aim to balance tighter security controls with customers’ demand for swift processing of high‑value payments under the Napas rapid‑transfer network.
