Vietnamese police assist citizens with erroneous bank transfers
Police across various Vietnamese provinces have successfully assisted citizens in resolving multiple cases of erroneous bank transfers.
In Gia Lai, a resident reported receiving 8 million VND from an unknown source and avoided potential fraud by contacting local authorities instead of responding to a suspicious request to return the funds via a stranger's call. In Nghe An, a woman reported receiving 200 million VND, which police later traced to a resident in Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, in Phu Tho, authorities helped a man recover 100 million VND that he had accidentally transferred to the wrong account.
Law enforcement agencies are using these incidents to urge public vigilance. They advise citizens to verify all transaction details, including recipient names and account numbers, and to contact both banks and the police immediately if an unusual transaction occurs to prevent fraud and ensure the safe return of funds.
