Vietnamese enterprises face new technological and data requirements

At the InnoEx 2026 forum, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh emphasized that Vietnamese enterprises must transition from merely accessing technology to converting innovation into tangible products, market presence, and large-scale industrial production capacity. He noted that science, technology, and digital transformation are becoming critical drivers for long-term economic competitiveness.

Parallel to these technological needs, experts at an ERP strategy workshop in Hanoi highlighted a new “data test” for Vietnamese companies entering global supply chains. To compete internationally, businesses must now provide verifiable data regarding product origin, emissions, and operational processes.

Alexander Evchenko, General Director of 1C Vietnam, observed that many local firms struggle with fragmented data systems where information is scattered across different departments and manual tools like Excel. Dr. Bui Thanh Minh noted that international trade rules are shifting; advantages once gained through low costs or labor are no longer sufficient, requiring companies to master traceability, product-level emissions, and auditable operational data.
