Vietnamese film 'Mesdames Thanh Sắc' exits theaters after zero ticket sales

The domestically produced drama 'Mesdames Thanh Sắc', starring and financed by model Thanh Hằng, recorded no ticket sales on a single day and maintained only a handful of attendees in the weeks that followed. After nearly five weeks in cinemas, total box‑office revenue reached about 16.6 billion VND, far short of its estimated 80 billion VND production and set‑design costs, placing the film among the year’s biggest box‑office losers.

The movie’s poor performance was underscored by intense competition from foreign blockbusters such as Conan Movie 29, The Odyssey and Minions & Monsters. A viral meme of a line from the film failed to translate into audience interest, and the film is scheduled to leave theaters by the end of the weekend, ending its run well below the 17 billion VND threshold needed to break even.
