Án Mạng Karaoke film tops Vietnamese box office during early screenings

The film “Án Mạng Karaoke,” directed by Hoàng Lê with creative director Võ Thanh Hòa, has unexpectedly claimed the top spot in the Vietnamese box office during its early screening period on October 21. Despite having fewer than half the scheduled screenings compared to the long-running hit “Trại buôn người,” the film achieved significantly higher revenue and ticket sales.

The detective-comedy follows a group of neighbors at a remote mountain homestay where a murder occurs, leading to a search for the culprit among the guests. The production features a diverse cast including Vân Dung, Đại Nghĩa, Thanh Sơn, and Miss Grand Vietnam Đoàn Thiên Ân.

Industry analysts note that the film's success stems from positive word-of-mouth and its blend of suspenseful investigation with relatable humor. While “Trại buôn người” maintains a high total cumulative revenue, “Án Mạng Karaoke” has disrupted its month-long dominance in daily earnings. The film is scheduled for official wide release on October 30.
