Vietnamese performing arts highlight traditional Cai Luong and television drama
The Ngân mãi chuông vàng stage is presenting a new production of the traditional Cai Luong play, Bach Hai Duong. Directed by Meritorious Artist Kim Phuong, the play explores the life of the notorious yet chivalrous bandit Bach Hai Duong. The production focuses on the conflicts between good and evil, legality and morality, and the consequences of individual actions on society and family. It features a mix of established artists and younger performers from the Chuông vàng vọng cổ competition.
In television news, Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai is gaining recognition for his portrayals of father figures in Vietnamese dramas. In the current VTV1 series, Xom nho, he plays Mr. Do, a single father struggling with generational conflicts with his daughter. This follows his previous acclaimed role as Luu in Cuoc doi van dep sao, where he portrayed a hardworking single father. His performances are noted for their emotional depth and realistic depiction of paternal love and social struggles.
