Vietnamese police and banks prevent fraudulent transfers

Police in Vietnam have successfully intervened in two separate incidents to prevent citizens from falling victim to online scams.

In Nghe An province, authorities from Nghia Hung commune worked with Agribank to stop a resident from withdrawing 380 million VND from three savings books. The individual had been targeted by scammers impersonating police officers, who claimed the resident was involved in criminal cases and required funds for an investigation.

In Tuyen Quang province, police in Lam Binh commune and Agribank staff prevented a 100 million VND transfer. A resident attempted to move the funds following an online investment scheme promising high returns for small capital.

Authorities have issued warnings advising the public to remain vigilant against high-profit investment promises, to never provide account passwords or OTP codes to strangers, and to verify all requests before transferring money.
