Vietnamese police dismantle transnational counterfeit document ring
Police in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam, have dismantled a large-scale transnational criminal network involved in producing and distributing counterfeit documents. The group operated a printing facility in Bavet, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia, to manufacture various forged items before smuggling them into Vietnam for sale.
Investigators found that the syndicate used approximately 37 Facebook pages to advertise services and solicit customers seeking forged driver's licenses, diplomas, and certificates. Since the beginning of 2026, the group has reportedly distributed over 100,000 sets of counterfeit documents, generating an estimated 15 billion VND in illicit profits.
Authorities have arrested and summoned several suspects, including Vũ Văn Hoàng, who managed the direct production process. Seized evidence includes 10 computers, specialized printers, nearly 250 card blanks, and tens of thousands of sophisticated counterfeit security seals.
