Vietnamese provinces grapple with storm‑related roof damage and landslide evacuations

Heavy rain accompanied by hail and strong winds struck Quang Ngai province on the evening of 24 June, tearing roofs off houses and damaging fences and crops in Son Ha commune. Local authorities deployed teams to assist residents, clear fallen vegetation, repair structures and compile damage assessments, while urging community support for affected families.

In the northern province of Lang Son, sustained heavy rainfall triggered landslides in Tan Tien district, exposing fissures up to 130 m long on hill slopes near the Khau Luong village. The landslides damaged rural roads and posed a risk to nearby homes. Provincial officials inspected the site on 23 June and ordered the relocation of residents from the high‑risk zone. Plans are under way to establish a temporary resettlement area at the Bác Ái commune, with coordination among agriculture, environment and land‑use agencies.
