Vietnamese provinces launch missions to recover martyr remains in Laos

Vietnamese provinces Thanh Hoa and Quang Tri have launched missions to search for and recover the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the 2026-2027 dry season.

In Thanh Hoa, authorities aim to recover 130 sets of remains in Laos and 10 within Vietnam as part of a “500-day campaign.” Officials emphasized the importance of respecting Lao laws and customs to strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

In Quang Tri, a team of 30 officers has been dispatched to Khammuane Province, Laos. Their mission, scheduled from September 5, 2026, to July 31, 2027, targets the recovery of 50 sets of remains. The provincial military command has completed training and logistical preparations to ensure the mission's success.
