Vietnamese provinces upgrade OCOP agricultural products for global markets

Provinces in Vietnam, including Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa, are focusing on upgrading the quality and international reach of their One Commune One Product (OCOP) agricultural goods through technology and standardized production.

In Phu Tho, producers are enhancing traditional products like Hung Lo rice noodles and Hoai Trung tea by improving packaging, traceability, and production processes. The Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative has achieved a 5-star OCOP rating and exports to markets including Taiwan and Japan. Hoai Trung Tea Co., Ltd. exports approximately 1,000 tons of black tea annually to China and the Middle East.

In Thanh Hoa, the emphasis has shifted from increasing quantity to enhancing value through science, technology, and digital transformation. The Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative is transitioning from VietGAP to organic cultivation methods for its tea products, utilizing drip irrigation and biological fertilizers. QR codes are being implemented to provide consumers with detailed information regarding raw material origins and production workflows.
