Vietnam intensifies search for fallen soldiers' remains in Cambodia and Laos
Vietnamese military units are actively conducting search and recovery operations to locate the remains of fallen soldiers in Cambodia and Laos. In Cambodia, as part of the ‘500-day-and-night campaign’, teams have recovered 431 sets of remains to date, including recent finds in Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, and Kratie provinces.
In Laos, recovery efforts have yielded results in Savannakhet and Sekong provinces. In Savannakhet, three sets of remains were recovered following information from a local resident, alongside personal artifacts such as a pen and military insignia. In Sekong, a single set of remains was recovered from a coffee garden, accompanied by a notebook featuring the emblem of the National Liberation Front.
Simultaneously, significant recovery work continues within Vietnam. At Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, authorities have recovered a total of 832 sets of remains since June 2026, with ongoing excavations in Area B to locate more individuals.
