Vietnamese students achieve success in international academic competitions

Vietnamese students have achieved significant success in various international academic and sporting competitions. At the 2026 Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) held in the Philippines, Hoang Khoi William, a sixth-grade student from Fairmont International School Vietnam, won a gold medal and was named the PhIMO 2026 Champion for his grade level.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the 2025-2026 academic year saw high performance in national and international arenas. Notable achievements included a gold medal at the Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO), a silver medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2026, and a bronze medal at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad 2026. Additionally, hundreds of students earned awards in national science research, academic excellence, and sports.

In response to these results, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training plans to enhance gifted student training for the 2026-2027 school year. Deputy Director Nguyen Bao Quoc stated that the city will reform selection processes to identify talent at earlier educational levels and establish long-term, systematic training programs.
