Vietnamese students overcome hardships to sit 2026 high school graduation exams

In Thanh Hóa province, 12‑year‑old student L. T. Y. N fractured her left thigh shortly before the 2026 high‑school graduation exam. Local police arranged private‑car transport, a midday rest stop and a return ride home, covering the 12‑km journey from her home in Quảng Phú to the test centre.

In Lào Cai province, 36‑year‑old commune secretary Sùng A Chúng, who failed the same exam 12 years ago, travelled 38 km each day to prepare and later lodged near the test site to avoid travel difficulties. He is the oldest among roughly 20,000 candidates in the province and faces challenges recalling curriculum after a long absence.

Both stories illustrate personal obstacles faced by candidates as the province‑wide exam involves over 42,000 examinees, with authorities deploying additional security and logistical support to ensure safe and punctual attendance.
