Vietnam's 2026 high school graduates advised on university choices

More than 1.2 million Vietnamese students who completed the 2026 high‑school graduation exam are awaiting their results, scheduled for July 1. The Ministry of Education released the official answer keys, prompting candidates to compare their work, estimate likely scores and assess admission chances for each university program. Experts urged students to use this waiting period to research study fields, university offerings, tuition, scholarships and housing, and to prioritize choices based on personal strengths and future labour‑market needs.

The online event “Teen 2K8 – Choose the right school, follow the right path” brought together representatives from over 13 universities for more than 30 hours of counseling. Speakers such as PGS TS Phan Thị Thu Hiền and TS Nguyễn Chí Thành emphasized that “choosing a major is also choosing a career” and advised students to base decisions on “understanding yourself, the profession and the work”. The program highlighted emerging fields like digital transformation and AI, stressing that technology‑related jobs remain in high demand despite concerns of saturation.
