Vietnam’s nationwide 500‑day “night and day” campaign to locate, recover and identify the remains of fallen soldiers has so far recovered 1,563 sets of remains – 539 in Vietnam, 174 in Laos and 850 in Cambodia. The operation uncovered nine mass graves, five in Tuyên Quang province and four at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the week of 24‑30 July, teams collected an additional 81 sets of remains and discovered two more collective graves at Le Thi Rieng Park. DNA sampling has been carried out at 88,889 graves, of which 61,887 met technical criteria, giving a 69.62 % usable‑sample rate. In Ho Chi Minh City, 7,640 samples were taken from 9,885 graves, achieving a 77.2 % coverage rate. The Ministry of National Defence has supported field operations, including a launch in Minh Đức commune, and has asked telecom operators Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone to send SMS appeals for information. Provincial bodies in Quảng Ngãi and Cà Mau have also called on locals to provide burial‑site details, continuing the long‑term effort to bring closure to families of the martyrs.
