Vietnam's Ca Mau Airport upgrade set to reopen in November 2026

The Ca Mau Airport, Vietnam's southernmost gateway, is receiving a VND 2.4 trillion upgrade funded by the state. Construction is in its final phase, with the Trường Sơn Construction Corporation handling the runway, taxiway and apron works. Calibration flights for the new equipment are scheduled for September 2026, followed by the airport’s reopening on 1 November 2026.

When operations resume, the airport will replace ATR‑72 turboprops with larger Airbus A321 jets on the Ca Mau–Ho Chi Minh City route, and plans are under review to restore the Ca Mau–Hanoi service. Officials expect the expanded capacity to boost passenger and cargo traffic, attract investment, and stimulate tourism and economic growth in the Mekong Delta region.
