Vietnam's Cam Ranh Airport slated for VND12 trillion expansion by 2030

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has asked the Khánh Hòa provincial government to expedite land‑related procedures and reduce rent fees to enable a major expansion of Cam Ranh International Airport. ACV plans to invest nearly VND 12 trillion in three flagship projects: a new T1 passenger terminal costing about VND 10.6 trillion with a capacity of 9 million passengers a year (raising total capacity to 11 million when linked to the existing terminal, targeted for operation in January 2030); a cargo terminal of about VND 175 billion capable of handling 50,000 tonnes of freight annually; and an expansion of aircraft parking bays by 11 slots, bringing the total to 44, at an estimated cost of VND 1.18 trillion, both slated for completion in 2028. The airport is projected to serve 4.1 million passengers (2.6 million international) and handle 7,453 tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2026, with full‑year forecasts of 8.3 million passengers, 15,127 tonnes of cargo and 45,110 commercial flights. By 2030 its designed capacity will reach 19 million passengers and 50,000 tonnes of cargo, rising further to 36 million passengers and 100,000 tonnes of cargo by 2050. Provincial officials have pledged to facilitate the required land handovers and regulatory approvals.
