Vietnam’s Da Nang and Phú Thọ pursue tech and tourism expansion after regional mergers
Da Nang city has adopted a new 2021‑2030 master plan that positions the expanded municipality as a regional technology, finance, logistics and innovation centre. The plan targets an average GRDP growth of 11‑12% per year from 2026‑2030, with 35‑40% of output coming from the digital economy. Key projects include a Tier III/IV international data‑center hub, a green data centre, an International Financial Centre, a free‑trade zone and upgraded seaports and airports. The city aims to become a smart, eco‑friendly Asian‑level metropolis by 2050.
Following the merger of three localities, Phú Thọ province is promoting a diversified tourism ecosystem that combines UNESCO‑listed cultural sites, natural parks, mountain lakes and high‑end resort complexes. Authorities project around 14.5 million visitors and nearly VND 14 800 billion in tourism revenue by 2025, with 10.5 million arrivals expected in the first half of 2026. Development priorities include luxury resorts, international‑standard golf courses and community‑based cultural experiences.
Both regions view the administrative consolidations as a catalyst for attracting investment, boosting high‑value industries and enhancing Vietnam’s position in technology and tourism.
