Vietnam's Dong Nai Province seeks higher state funding for Gia Nghĩa‑Chơn Thành highway

More than a year after construction began, Dong Nai province is requesting that the central government raise its budget contribution for the Gia Nghĩa‑Chơn Thành highway to 70% of total costs. The 124.1‑km corridor, of which about 101 km runs through Dong Nai, was approved by the National Assembly in June 2024 under a public‑private partnership (PPP) with a BOT contract signed in June 2025 and an overall investment of VND 19.965 trillion.

The project has largely completed land‑acquisition, and works are now focused on road‑base layers, drainage and related structures. Investors have asked to shift the financing model from BOT to BT to address implementation challenges. When finished, the highway is expected to become a key transport link linking northern Dong Nai with the Central Highlands, boosting regional economic and social development.
