Vietnam's Eastern Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho Accelerate Urban and Economic Growth
The eastern districts of Ho Chi Minh City are entering their most rapid transformation, with continuous infrastructure upgrades, new shopping, entertainment and office centres, and large‑scale urban projects. The SOLA development, a villa‑compound on a natural peninsula surrounded by water, is marketed as a balanced living space that blends modern city connectivity with private green and waterfront environments.
In the Mekong Delta, Can Thơ is positioning itself as a new growth pole. City leaders target a GRDP increase of over 10 % by 2026 and aim to become a logistics hub along the Chau Đốc‑Can Thơ‑Sóc Trăng corridor, attract green foreign direct investment to high‑tech industrial parks like VSIP Can Thơ, and develop a knowledge‑based agricultural and service economy. Challenges highlighted include the speed of investment absorption, project financing, land‑release and execution of planned infrastructure such as the Cần Thơ‑Hậu Giang‑Cà Mau highway.
