Vietnam's Education Ministry to pilot AI‑driven computer exam for high school graduates

The Ministry of Education and Training (Bộ GD&ĐT) has finalized a plan for computer‑based national high‑school graduation exams covering 2026‑2036. The first pilot is scheduled for 2027 in selected localities that meet infrastructure and staffing requirements, with exams run in multiple sessions throughout the year and organized by subject or combined tests to spread the load on equipment and supervisors.

The system will operate on a closed LAN network with no Internet connection, employing multi‑layer encryption, secure data transmission and automatic logging of all actions. An AI‑generated question bank will supply test items, and the platform will automatically save answers at regular intervals, preserving work in case of power loss or hardware failure. Most subjects will be taken on computers, while the Vietnamese language essay remains paper‑based, aiming to reduce human intervention, improve fairness and increase resilience against technical or security incidents.
