Vietnam's EVN launches consumer app amid soaring electricity bills

In early July, Vietnamese households reported sharply higher electricity bills for June, with some families in Hanoi seeing charges rise from about 1.5 million to nearly 2.5 million dong as monthly consumption jumped from 597 kWh to 758 kWh. EVN attributed the increase to prolonged hot weather that drove extended use of air‑conditioners and other high‑power devices. To help customers verify their usage, EVN began a trial of the nationwide EVN CSKH mobile application on 15 June. After logging in with a phone number and OTP, users can link one or more contracts, view daily, weekly and monthly consumption, check meter readings without opening the meter box, set alerts for usage spikes, and calculate expected charges using an online bill‑calculator tool. The app also displays the tariff tiers applied to each kWh block, enabling consumers to compare kWh totals rather than just monetary amounts. EVN advised customers to match the kWh shown on the app with the figures printed on their bills and to report any discrepancies through the app or local offices.
