Vietnam power utilities schedule extensive summer outages and launch saving initiatives

State-owned electricity companies in Vietnam released detailed schedules for temporary power cuts on 29 June 2026, affecting areas in Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The cuts, lasting from early morning to early afternoon, support maintenance work such as transformer replacement, line repairs and grid safety checks during the peak summer heat.

Regional utilities in Vĩnh Long and Đồng Tháp also posted outage timetables covering 29 June to 5 July, citing grid maintenance and load‑balancing needs. These scheduled interruptions aim to prevent overloads as electricity demand surges for air‑conditioning and other cooling devices.

Simultaneously, southern power companies, including EVNSPC and the Cần Thơ power corporation, have intensified demand‑side programs. Measures include encouraging customers to shift loads, install rooftop solar‑plus‑storage systems, and adopt energy‑saving behaviours. EVNHANOI promoted a household campaign urging residents to set air‑conditioners to 26 °C, use fan assistance, and switch off unused appliances.

The coordinated effort combines outage planning with public awareness to maintain grid stability and reduce electricity consumption during the hot season.
