Vietnam's EVN urges households to curb summer electricity bills

The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) mobile app now lets users view daily electricity consumption, estimate monthly usage and costs, and set alerts when usage exceeds a chosen threshold. By logging in with their customer code, households can switch between monthly and daily views, see precise kilowatt‑hour readings for any day, and use built‑in forecasting tools that combine past usage and weather data to predict the upcoming bill. EVN also highlights four main reasons for the sharp rise in electricity bills during recent heat waves: prolonged operation of air‑conditioners, simultaneous use of multiple high‑power appliances, children staying home for summer holidays which extends overall household electricity use, and reliance on older, less efficient equipment. The utility advises setting air‑conditioners at 26 °C or higher, supplementing cooling with fans, using eco modes, turning off idle devices, and regularly cleaning air‑conditioners to improve efficiency. Monitoring consumption through the app can help families adjust habits and reduce both costs and strain on the power grid.
