Vietnam's Hoai Nhon‑Quy Nhon Highway ITS Deadline Set Amid Nationwide Expressway Expansion

The Management Board 85 of the Ministry of Construction has ordered the joint venture handling contract package 32 on the Hoai Nhon‑Quy Nhon expressway to expedite the deployment of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and electronic toll collection (ETC) equipment. The board set firm milestones: complete fiber‑optic cabling from junction nodes to the Traffic Management Center by 9 July, have all key devices on site by 10 July, finish ETC installation by 20 July and vehicle‑weight‑control equipment by 25 July. Failure to meet these dates may trigger contractual penalties for the contractor and the supervising consultancy.

In the first half of 2026, Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction reported that 395 km of new expressways were opened, bringing the national total of operational high‑speed roads to 3,345 km. Completed sections include the Quang Ngai‑Hoai Nhon (88 km), Hoai Nhon‑Quy Nhon (70 km), Quy Nhon‑Chi Thanh (62 km), Chi Thanh‑Van Phong (48 km), Bien Hoa‑Vung Tau (54 km) and Hau Giang‑Ca Mau (73 km), linking the north‑south corridor from Lang Son to Ca Mau. The ministry also highlighted ongoing projects in rail, aviation and ports as part of a broader push to improve national logistics and regional connectivity.
