Vietnam's Lang Son Province Boosts Public Investment to Hit Growth Goal

In the first half of the year, nine of Vietnam's 34 provinces recorded economic growth above 10%, with Ha Tinh reaching 12.79% and Thái Nguyên at the low end with 10.01%. Lang Son province lagged at 7.02%, ranking 30th, and faces the pressure of raising growth to over 13% in the second half to meet its annual target of 10.61%.

To accelerate progress, Lang Son is speeding up the disbursement of public investment funds, prioritising large projects such as the nearly 60‑km Hữu Nghị‑Chi Lăng highway near the northern border. Officials say the highway will cut transport times and boost trade capacity. Hoàng Đình Tuệ, deputy director of the province’s investment‑construction management board, noted that equipment is being deployed segment by segment, with a goal to complete the project by December 2026 and to disburse funds according to construction volume. To date the province has cleared 77 pending projects and is focusing on completing another 25 within the year. The broader national strategy emphasizes public‑investment funding as a key driver to achieve the government’s two‑digit growth ambition.
