Vietnam's Lang Son Province Expands Digital Services in Mountain Areas

In the mountainous, border communes of Lang Son province, Vietnam, local authorities have completed the digitisation of all public‑administrative files. Residents now access their electronic identity, submit applications and track processing through a public‑services portal using only a smartphone. Officials use each transaction as a training opportunity, helping people install apps, verify accounts and become autonomous in digital procedures.

The initiative, championed by Hoang Duc Binh, vice‑president of the Quan Son People's Committee, has introduced AI‑enabled kiosks and community‑level digital‑technology teams that teach citizens to use the national VNeID system, cash‑less payments and other online platforms. According to resident Nguyen Van Tuan, the shift has dramatically reduced travel time and costs for land‑related paperwork, while the province reports 100 % of dossiers processed electronically and resolved within set deadlines.
