Vietnam's Largest Ten Banks Unveil Chairmen Profiles and Asset Highlights

Vietnam's ten biggest banks account for about 70% of the country's banking assets. Their chairpersons come from diverse backgrounds, many rising from junior staff to senior leadership.

Key figures include Trần Hùng Huy, who became chairman of ACB at age 34 in 2012, and entrepreneurs Hồ Hùng Anh and Ngô Chí Dũng, each worth billions of dollars and now heading the country's largest private banks. At state‑owned institutions, Lê Ngọc Lâm will assume the chairmanship of BIDV on 1 July 2026 after a near‑30‑year career there; the bank reported total assets of VND 3.33 trillion at the end of 2025. Trần Minh Bình leads VietinBank, which surpassed VND 2.77 trillion in assets and broke the US$100 billion mark in 2025. Tô Huy Vũ chairs the member council of Agribank, a fully state‑owned lender with assets exceeding VND 2.68 trillion.

These profiles highlight the ages, tenure and strategic directions of the senior executives steering Vietnam's dominant banking sector.
