Vietnam corporate rankings and banking updates

Overview

In mid‑June 2026 Vietnam’s top firms climbed the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list, with Vingroup, BIDV, Vinamilk and PetroVietnam posting strong gains. By month‑end Forbes placed Vingroup chairman Pham Nhat Vuong 63rd globally, keeping him Southeast Asia’s richest at US$35.5 billion. Saigon‑Hanoi Bank (SHB) rose to rank 141, reporting a 30 % jump in pre‑tax profit to VND 15,021 billion and assets of VND 931 trillion, and was named among Vietnam Report’s top‑10 trustworthy banks. The Bank for Investment and Development (BVBank) earned a B+ IDR rating from Fitch, citing liquidity, risk management and a digital‑lending push ahead of a capital increase to VND 10,000 billion. On 2 July, VPBank improved its Forbes Global 2000 position to 1,373, the highest for a Vietnamese private bank after a Sumitomo Mitsui capital infusion; its subsidiary also sold its stake in Kinh Bắc. Brand Finance’s Vietnam 100 2026 report valued the country’s 100 leading brands at US$43 billion, up 11 % year‑on‑year. Viettel led with a $7.9 billion brand value, Vinamilk second at $2.6 billion and an AAA+ strength rating for a fourth year, remaining the only FMCG firm in the top‑10 for four consecutive years. Vinamilk celebrated its 50‑year anniversary, reporting Q2 2026 revenue of VND 18.856 trillion (up 12.5 % YoY) and a record net profit of VND 3.184 trillion (up 28 %). Profit before tax rose 25.9 % to VND 3.899 trillion, underscoring the brand’s pricing power and market‑share protection. The company also refreshed its visual identity and expanded its portfolio to over 300 SKUs, including the Optimum infant formula, the first in Asia with six HMO nutrients. Vietnam’s ten largest banks hold about 70 % of banking assets.
