Vietnam's nationwide switch to E10 gasoline sees positive driver feedback

From 1 June 2026 Vietnam replaced RON95 gasoline with bio‑fuel E10 (10 % ethanol) nationwide under Circular 50/2025/TT‑BCT. Most cars produced in the last 15‑20 years can use the blend, but older models with carburetors – especially those built before the 1990s – are advised to inspect fuel‑system seals, hoses and plastic parts, replace them if needed, or continue using E5 gasoline.

In Ha Tĩnh province all 242 retail stations have converted to E10. Retailers report smooth sales (about three cubic metres per day per station) and no consumer complaints after a month. Drivers note that engine performance, acceleration and fuel consumption are comparable to the previous fuel, and confidence in the new blend is growing.

State‑owned PVOIL Vũng Áng stores up to 60 000 m³ of fuel and produces 25‑30 000 m³ of E10 each month using modern intank and inline blending technology. Each batch is quality‑tested before market release.

Owners of very old carbureted vehicles are urged to consult manuals, check for deteriorated components and consider using E5 if compatible parts cannot be replaced.
