Vietnam's North‑South Highway Toll System Generates Over 1.2 Trillion VND in Revenue

The Vietnam Road Administration reported that the nonstop electronic toll system for five sections of the North‑South Eastern highway (Mai Sơn‑QL45, QL45‑Nghi Sơn, Nghi Sơn‑Diễn Châu, Vĩnh Hảo‑Phan Thiết, Phan Thiết‑Dầu Giây) has been operating since 2‑3 July 2026. By 21 June 2026 the system recorded more than 12.8 million transactions, collecting over 1.219 trillion VND for the state budget. Monthly figures show 2.6 million vehicles in March (260 billion VND), 3.4 million in April (333 billion VND), 3.6 million in May (348 billion VND) and over 3 million in the first three weeks of June (274 billion VND). The administration noted that early‑stage issues have largely been resolved, though traffic‑monitoring and weight‑control databases still need full deployment. Additional electronic toll stations for the 2021‑2025 phase are being completed, with full handover expected by mid‑July 2026. A separate notice confirmed that toll collection on the five sections will commence at 20:00 on 15 July 2026.
