Vietnam's OCOP program shifts focus to quality and digital markets

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in Vietnam is shifting its focus from increasing the quantity of certified products to enhancing quality, brand building, and market value. In Quang Tri province, officials note that the program is transforming rural production mindsets, moving producers toward prioritizing standards, packaging, traceability, and competitiveness rather than just volume.

In Hanoi, the program is increasingly integrating digital transformation to boost the rural economy. Producers are utilizing e-commerce, social media, and livestreaming to promote local goods, such as medicinal mushrooms and traditional specialties. After seven years of implementation, Hanoi has registered 3,544 OCOP products, including 18 five-star products and over 1,500 four-star products, creating significant potential for expansion within the digital marketplace.
