Vietnam's Quynhon-Pleiku Highway Project Accelerates Land Compensation

The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has called on districts and agencies to speed up compensation and land‑clearing work for the Quynhon‑Pleiku expressway, a 125‑km corridor costing over VND 43 trillion. The project will acquire about 942 ha of land, with compensation, support and resettlement costs estimated at VND 4.715 trillion, of which the province will fund VND 1.25 trillion from its budget and other legal sources.

Progress reports show that component 1 has completed household enumeration for 1,969 families, compensated 1,562 households and handed over 19 km of main road (≈86% complete). Component 2 has finished 100% of enumeration, while component 3 has approved compensation for 97.5% of the main line, with over 96% of land cleared. Officials stress the need to resolve remaining issues on resettlement, forest‑use conversion, utility relocation and to release allocated public investment funds.

When finished, the expressway will shorten travel time between Pleiku and the Quynhon port, lower freight costs, improve logistics and spur industrial, urban and trade development along the east‑west corridor. It will also enhance connectivity to the Le Thanh International Border Gate, facilitating trade with Laos and northeastern Cambodia.
