Vietnam's VN-Index and South Korea's KOSPI rise in June week

Vietnam's VN-Index closed the week of 15‑19 June modestly lower at 1,824.53 points, down 0.32%, after a brief rally added about 33 points. The market saw selling pressure from foreign investors, who sold roughly 3.87 trillion dong while buying 2.38 trillion dong. Bank stocks such as LPB, STB and MSB provided support, whereas BID and other heavyweights dragged the index down.

South Korea's KOSPI broke the 9,000‑point barrier for the first time, ending the same week at 9,052.42 points, up 11.43% from the previous week. The surge was driven by improved investor sentiment as Middle‑East tensions eased, with foreign investors buying net over 2.55 trillion won. However, the index fell sharply intra‑day before a modest recovery, and volatility rose to its highest level in weeks. Tech and semiconductor shares led gains, while the KOSDAQ fell 6.07%. Analysts expect upcoming chip‑maker earnings and U.S. consumer‑spending data to shape future market direction.
