Vigo and Santander upgrade police fleets with hybrid and specialized vehicles
The municipal council of Vigo has launched a four‑year rental contract for 32 new police vehicles, budgeting €3.4 million. The order includes 20 hybrid (MHEV/HEV) patrol cars, five combustion‑engine vehicles, seven units that can be hybrid or thermal, and three camouflaged vehicles plus a luxury sedan. Renault won the contract and will provide full maintenance, insurance and technical support.
In the northern port city of Santander, the Port Authority has renewed its police vehicle fleet with four hybrid cars for a five‑year term, at a cost of €174 000 via Arval Service Lease. The new units feature LED blue signalling lights, acoustic priority systems, DGT‑connected pre‑signalling devices and additional safety equipment, aiming to improve response capabilities while reducing emissions and noise.
