Vigo Arena project approved to become largest multi‑use venue in NW Spain
Mayor Abel Caballero announced that the new Vigo Arena will be built on a 10,000 m² site in the Guixar‑Santa Tegra district of Vigo. The underground arena will have a capacity of 15,000‑16,000 seats, with its roof turned into a 10,000 m² public plaza featuring green areas, walking paths and leisure space. Around 1,500 parking spaces and extensive landscaping are also planned.
The development is intended to serve as a catalyst for concerts, sports and cultural events across Galicia, northern Portugal, Asturias and Castile and León, positioning Vigo as the main destination for large‑scale performances in the north‑west Iberian Peninsula. Construction is expected to begin within two years, with architectural design led by European reference studios.
