Vigo City Council ordered to pay 4.58 million euros to Port Authority
The High Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) has issued a ruling ordering the Vigo City Council to pay 4.58 million euros, plus legal interest and costs, to the Port of Vigo. The court found the municipality failed to fulfill its maintenance obligations for port spaces as established in the Abrir Vigo al Mar agreement.
Luisa Sánchez, president of the People's Party in Vigo, criticized Mayor Abel Caballero, demanding explanations for the breach of duty. She noted that the lack of maintenance was linked to a serious 2018 accident involving a wooden walkway. The ruling clarifies that the Council's obligation to maintain these areas is a settled legal matter and is no longer subject to debate.
