Vigo Mayor confirms relocation of Christmas market and Ferris wheel

Vigo Mayor Abel Caballero has officially confirmed a restructuring of the city's Christmas festivities. The Cíes Market and the city's iconic Ferris wheel will be relocated to the Vialia intermodal station area, specifically to the upper plaza and the shopping center's exterior parking lot.

This relocation is part of a geographic expansion plan intended to decongest the historic center and distribute the economic impact of the holiday lights and markets toward the Ensanche district. Local authorities have cited the technical suitability of the Vía Norte site for these attractions.

Preparations for the holiday season are already underway in Porta do Sol, where a Christmas 'forest' of small trees is being installed. Technical teams are also conducting light tests on various decorations, including the 'Gift Box' and 'Snowman' emblems, ahead of the anticipated lighting ceremony.
