Vigo rolls out family summer events at Vialia mall and begins massive Christmas lighting project
In August, Vialia Estación shopping centre in Vigo, managed by Nhood, offered a schedule of free activities for all ages, including weekly children’s workshops, a water gymkhana on August 4, Mini Olympics on August 11, a Tropical Party on August 18, an Explorer Adventure on August 25, a Water Party on August 22, and concerts by Perro Futuro (August 21) and La Franga (August 28) in the Foodcourt, plus a family performance by Costureiriña Bonita on August 29. Activities were open to the public without pre‑registration and held in the Foodcourt at 18:00, limited to 25 participants per workshop.
Meanwhile, the Vigo City Council, led by Mayor Abel Caballero, started installing the 2024 Christmas lighting in July. The scheme uses 12 million LED lights across 500 streets—40 more than the previous year—along with 7,000 ornamental motifs, 2,700 decorated trees and 1,500 luminous arches. Caballero said the new display will feature additional innovations and a large central tree, with the official lighting ceremony to be held in November.
